Work in 2011
May 13th. to 14th., 2011
Five men participated during this work day. On Friday, the concrete forms
were removed from the slabs that had been poured two weeks ago. Several
electrical connections at the generator room were reworked to a more
permanent configuration. Framing of the utility room began Friday evening and
continued under electric lights until 9 PM. During this time, the bottom and top
plates were installed, and the two side walls were erected. Early Saturday
morning work continued. The front wall was erected, and the door & window
was installed. Then, the 4X8 sheeting was cut and nailed to the exterior wall.
Finally, the fiber/plastic cover was stapled to the exterior sheeting. Hardware
and trim was installed to the door. The next step will be to install the vinyl
siding. Please watch the
slide show.
May 2nd. through May 4th., 2011
Six men participated in this work day. People arrived Monday during the day in order to make final preparations for the concrete truck's arrival Tuesday morning at 7 AM. The doors had to be covered with plastic to prevent concrete from being splashed as the truck poured the concrete. Spacers had to be attached to the existing foundation as a separator between the old slab and the newly poured concrete pads. Dirt had to be moved away from the utility room vicinity to provide easy access by the concrete truck. The following morning, the truck arrived on time. The utility room was poured first, followed by the other four entrance pads around the main building. As several men used the float to smooth the concrete on the utility room, others started pouring concrete into the next pad. By the time it was all completed, around 9 AM, all the pads had been poured, floated, finished and rounded. The truck departed at 9 AM sharp. There was just enough concrete to pour a four foot square pad for the future light pole. The estimators were 100% accurate. 10 yards had been ordered. There were only several shovels of concrete left over. GOOD JOB! After a well deserved breakfast, the concrete pads received the final smoothing operation. The men from Victory Baptist Church departed in the afternoon. Ron Delsordo and two men from Calvary Baptist Church, Mesa remained to complete several items of electrical work. Numerous boxes were installed, several more circuits were installed. Two men from CBC departed at 1PM on Wednesday, leaving Ron Delsordo by himself for one more day. It was a very productive work period, indeed. The next work day has already been scheduled for the framing of the utility room. It will happen on May 14th., Lord willing! Please watch the SLIDE SHOW for this event.
April 11th. - 12th., 2011
Dear Friends and Supporters of Camp Tishomingo,
I am sending this report regarding Camp Tishomingo work days that occurred Monday and Tuesday April 11-12th. First, I would like to report that we had seven people who participated. Work continued on the electrical tasks, plumbing tasks, and steel reinforcement requirements in the footers of the utility room.
I met with the Apache County building inspector on Tuesday to determine the status of the permits. I invited him to take a trip to the property with me. The meeting with him was nothing less that the work of our Great and Gracious God.
I gave the inspector a complete tour of the property. We reviewed the current construction status and what the future plans are. We discussed each building and their current and future utilization. We obtained answers from him regarding plumbing and electrical work, allowing us to continue on those projects. In general, the inspector was very satisfied with the current work that has been completed at this point.
He gave us the approval to go ahead and pour the concrete for the utility room which we need to get done ASAP. He also has approved the issuance of the Certificate of Occupation for the Maintenance Building. So, we have cleared the permit stage of this building and it is fully signed off! It seems that we will get an extension on the permit for the Multi Purpose Building so we can continue to work on it without having to pay for new permits.
We were all amazed at the “graciousness” of the building inspector and his willingness to work with us. At the end of the meeting with him he said that he is working only two days per week and gave us his personal cell number to use if we have any questions. He also gave us his work days. We want to be able to use this man’s inspection services in the future, because we have established a working relationship with him, and he has a historical perspective of the property.
This is our God at work!
It is my current goal to have Youth Camp at Camp Tishomingo for the 2012 camping season. This is a very easy to hit goal, but we need to complete the Kitchen and Bathrooms before this can happen.
To accomplish this goal we need laborers, funds and prayers as follows.
· People that have the knowledge to install the furnaces and ducting.
· People to help finish the plumbing
· People willing to go and help even if I am not available due to job commitments.
· Funds to complete the kitchen and Bathrooms ($30,000)
